Welcome to a new social network site for the Moorland Road Community. To help explain what this site is and why it has been created please have a look at the following frequently asked questions (FAQs).

1) What is a 'social network' and how is it different from a normal website?

Most websites allow you to read pages of text and images - and that's all. There is no easy way for you to add your own thoughts or comments, and you also don't always know who the people are who have written the pages you read. In short, they tend not to be very interactive.

A social network is the opposite of this. It is possible for anyone who is a member of the website (after creating a free account) to contribute to the discussion, either by writing their own blogforum. Its also possible to upload and share your own photos, and you can view individual members profiles, to find out more about them.

Furthermore, it is also possible to send private messages to other members of the group, in a similar, but easier way than by email.


2) OK - interactivity sounds great, but what is the purpose?


People live and work in very different ways today compared to even only a few years ago. Everyone has busy lives, more and more things to do and less time seemingly to do them in. It is clear to us all how difficult it is to find time for face-to-face meetings to discuss even important issues.

Fortunately, this is where technology can help, since it is increasingly simple and convenient to communicate via computers and the internet. People can leave messages for each other, and have conversations with a wider public audience, all at their own convenience whenever they have internet access.
