What a great shame to read the recent letter regarding the state of the association.
I for one would like, on behalf of Planet Beauty, to become more involved in the association. Unfortunately I cannot attend the next meeting as we will be away that week. We were also unable to attend the last meeting due to myself having a previous arrangement but also because Planet Beauty has a late night opening on Thursday evening. Apparently they have asked on numerous occasions for the association to meet on another evening of the week so that they could attend, but Thursdays seem to be the only day.
Who do I need to talk to to see about helping out the association?
I have a few querries at this stage...
Planet Beauty is in possesion of an invite to the Council Chair's reception - dated for October. Is this the same reception that seems to have just taken place? We have had no information regarding this one which would explain why we were not there. We are as sorry about this as anyone.
Is it compulsory that we buy hanging baskets from the council? At over £110 each it is no wonder the interest has wained. Can we not source from a more reasonable suppplier and just pay the council to water them - or water them ourselves?
If anyone wants help with the Christmas decorations next year please ask me. I would be more than happy to help.
John, can I answer your points one by one, firstly after forming the Association back in 1991 we decided on a meeting day that might suite everyone but of course that was virtualy immpossible, over the years we have changed the day numerous times and i'm afraid there will always be people who cant make it on that particular day,
secondly you need to tal;k to David Pye from This-n-That,
thirdly, the invitations to the Chairmans reception were delivered by the Chairman himself at quite short notice.
forthly, You can buy baskets from whoever you want, I started the scheme back in the late eighties using Parks department as they could put up and maintain the baskets at a reasonable price, I know the price today is £110 inc VAT but that is an 18" basket put up for you and watered 3 times a week untill mid September,I think that is still value for money, perhaps if you would like to give me a ring i will explain, its a long story! And finaly thank you John for your offer of help with the Christmas lights, please contact David.
