Hi David,
What do you mean by 'Request for Officers'? You also mentioned the future of the MRA. I know there isn't much usage of this website now - such a shame - so are you finding it hard keeping interest up?
Can I be of use?
Regards,
Rob

Hi Rob,
As you are probably aware the Moorland Road Association succeeded the Moorland Road Traders Association and the reason for this was to try and create a new image, but with the Traders and the two Churches, still playing the major role, as before.

With the introduction of the web site, people were welcomed other than Traders, but the majority of these only became "Site Members" which is fair enough. However it was not intended for the MRA to become a community body as such, as most of what we organise is still to do with the Road and the Shops. For instance the subscriptions we collect from the Traders and money we raise all goes towards promoting trade in the road by means of Floral Displays and Christmas Lights. No trader has enough time to expand this any further, and it is felt that anything other than what we do now in order to give something back to the customers, should be left to a community body.

What is happening in Moorland Road is that we are loosing the independent shops and these were the main organisers of the MRTA, and so interest is dwindling, as it would appear traders do not have the time or interest to consider the future and promote the "Road". The Churches reflect the same feeling to a certain degree, with the lack of younger people putting themselves forward.

So to answer your questions, the request for Officers refers to filling the posts of Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. However it is my personal view that these posts should only be filled by totally committed members i.e. Traders who have a common interest.

With regards to help, thank you, but the way I see it at the moment is that at the AGM it must be decided in which direction the MRA is going to go. So therefore after this, if say we still have interest enough to put on a "Flower Day", then your help will certainly be called upon as with others, and thank you very much for this offer.

With many thanks,

Regards

David
